Glass Jar DIY Project: Pretty Jars with Knobs

Glass Jar DIY: Glass jars with black lids and gold knobs

These cute DIY jars with pretty knobs are a wonderful way to recycle your glass jars. If you’re looking for a pretty storage solution for odds and ends in your kitchen, bathroom, or even bedroom, this glass jar DIY project is perfect for you.

Glass Jar DIY: A Creative Way to Recycle Jars

The fun thing about this DIY is that you can customize the look of the jars with different colored paints and any cabinet knob that you think is pretty. I chose gold knobs that I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby for 75 cents each, but you can use whatever you find pretty.

They can truly be customized to fit any style of décor. You can use all of the same jar for a uniform look or you can bring together jars if various sizes and decorate them the same to unify them.

Glass Jar DIY: Displaying and Storing

These jars can hold anything from wine corks to q-tips. I used mine to display some of the things my daughter likes to collect from outside, such as fall leaves, rocks, and sticks. It’s a pretty way to protect and display the treasures she brings home with her!

Supplies

  • Recycled glass jars with lids
  • Goo Gone (optional)
  • Spray paint
  • Paper or cardboard
  • Knobs (one for each jar)
  • Drill and 5/32 drill bit

Directions

  1. Clean out your jars thoroughly and remove labels. I like to run mine through the dishwasher. Use Goo Gone to remove any stubborn residue from labels.
  2. Lay out your paper or cardboard outside or in a well-ventilated area and place your lids on top.
  3. Following directions on spray can, shake your can of spray paint and spray evenly to coat lids. Let dry as directed on can.
  4. Spray a second coat if needed to ensure full coverage. Let dry.
  5. Screw lids on jars. Using your drill, slowly and carefully drill a hole in the center of each lid. Screw knobs in through the holes.
