I have been obsessed with interior design since my first apartment, and I love finding creative ways to decorate my home. Experimenting with design has led to finding cool ways to accomplish the look I want in my home. Over the years, I have picked up some clever home decor hacks that save time or money and add a unique touch to my design.
In this blog post, I’m sharing my tricks with you! Here are a few of my favorite home decor hacks. I hope these inspire you to get creative, use accessories in a unique way, or save money on a home project.
Do you have small vases or bud vases in your decor stash? Try repurposing them as candleholders!
My 3-year-old daughter actually gave me this idea. She was admiring my cloisonné vases with a thoughtful expression.
“Mama,” she asked. “Can we put candles in these?”
I thought it was a genius idea, so I tried it. I think it’s such a cute way to use a small vase! I just used Loctite putty around the base of the candle to hold it in place.
I love the look of framed canvas, but framing a piece of canvas wrapped over a wooden frame can get expensive and tricky.
I have mine printed on flat pieces of canvas and mount the canvas on hardboard cut to fit inside a frame. It’s cheaper and thinner than regular canvas, so you can use any frame you want!

I felt like the mirror in my curio cabinet made everything look so busy. My pretty pieces were getting lost in there! I changed this by cutting a piece of wallpaper to size and hot gluing it to the mirrored surface.
Now you can actually see the display! But since I used hot glue, it’s totally removable and doesn’t ruin the mirror. It’s a great way to add a special touch to your china cabinet.
I needed a place to store my coffee mugs, and I was short on cabinet space. So I purchased some hooks from Amazon. I also painted a thrifted wall shelf black and mounted everything on the wall above a free-standing cabinet.
This created a cute place to display my favorite mugs! You can create your own version of this using empty wall space in your home.
I didn’t like the small square doorway that leads from my living room to the hallway. It probably needs an arch to soften it, but I don’t have time or resources for that project right now.
To make it look softer and prettier, I hung a curtain and draped it to the side. It’s a quick and easy fix that doesn’t require too much knowledge to implement. Maybe someday I’ll get my arch, but I might prefer this solution!
