Spring Tablescapes: Blue Willow and Pink Cabbage Plates

By , March 29, 2026

There is truly nothing I love more than a tablescape! For my spring tablescapes this year, I found a new addition to my china collection that really inspired me: pink cabbage plates!

Bordallo Pinheiro Cabbage Plates

The original cabbage plate by Bordallo Pinheiro is a highly collectible and popular china pattern. The classic version is green, but they come in other shades like pale pink and white.

I have found green bowls in this pattern at a thrift store exactly one time, and they sold fast in my Etsy shop. I love this pattern, but it’s a little pricy for me to consider collecting it.

Finding Copycat Cabbage Plates from Hobby Lobby

But recently at Hobby Lobby I stumbled across these pink copycat cabbage plates (which are out of stock online). They were absolutely stunning, and totally affordable.

I didn’t buy them right away as I wanted to think about my purchase, but my mom took me back for my birthday and we purchased six appetizer plates. I didn’t need a full set – just a few to mix into my preexisting Blue Willow collection.

I am obsessed with these plates! I’m glad I got the appetizer size and not the dinner plates. They look amazing mixed in with the blue and white that I already collect. They add a spring touch to my tablescapes, and they offered me so much creative inspiration for the season.

Designing Spring Tablescapes with My Daughter

As I put together a few gorgeous tablescapes with these plates, my two-year-old daughter was watching intently.

“That’s beau-ful, Mama!” she exclaimed. “You make a beau-ful house!”

My heart just about melted. I will be thrilled if my daughter has any interest in interior design and decorating when she gets older. Sometimes, she shows little signs of interest, and it gets me so excited. Lately, she loves sitting with me as I peruse my design magazines for inspiration.

I ended up putting together two different tablescapes inspired by these pink cabbage plates. The first (and my favorite) layers Blue Willow dinner plates with the pink cabbage plates and then small dessert Blue Willow plates on top.

Spring Floral Centerpiece

In the center of the table are two gorgeous vases filled with flowers and a hand poured depression glass candle.

To avoid covering up the Blue Willow pattern, I placed my napkins above the plates. I used my crystal rocks glasses as the drinkware.

Spring Tablescapes: Version Two

Milk Glass, Pink Cabbage Plates, and Blue Willow Tablescape Inspiration

To switch things up, I traded my Blue Willow dessert plates for white milk glass ones that were once my mom’s. I placed the napkins on top.

I swapped out the rocks glasses for clear goblets that I found in my décor shed. I originally purchased these to make candles in, but I loved them in this tablescape so much that I think I’m just going to use them as drinkware.

I layered in some gold floral placemats over the blue and white ones that both tablescapes share. Another common element in both tablescapes is my gold bamboo silverware.

Spring Centerpiece

I simplified the centerpiece down to just one blue and white vase filled with pink flowers.

I hope you found these photos to be inspiring! If you enjoy putting together tablescapes, you may enjoy browsing through my blog posts on entertaining. I share advice for hosting, plus plenty of tablescape inspiration.

While the Hobby Lobby version of this plate is out of stock, you can always find the original Bordallo Pinheiro pink cabbage plates online.

If you can’t afford to buy an entire set of cabbage ware, try just purchasing a few pieces to blend with your existing plates, like I did. It’s a great way to freshen up your table with only a few new items!
